The Munster Hornets (14-2) defeated the Shiner Comanches (12-4) in the UIL Class 2A Division 2 championship Wednesday at AT&T Stadium.
Mnestar was aggressive from the start of the match. The Hornets successfully went onside on the first kickoff and then scored on the drive.
Both teams traded blows in the fourth quarter until Munster’s defense held Shiner scoreless.
Munster quarterback Kayden Carney was a star for the Hornets. He gained 147 rushing yards and threw for 171 yards with four touchdowns.
Shiner’s Tristan Vesey was named Defensive MVP after recording 14 total tackles, two lost tackles and one sack.
This is the second title in school history. The Hornets defeated Tenaja in 2017 to advance to the 2A Division II finals.
