San Luis Obispo – Cal Poly found a proper attack against one of the country’s best pitching staff, but too many while Texas A&M rose six to win Game One The runner was stuck.
True freshman outfielder Dante Vacini led the Cal Poli lineup for the first time this season, opening the game with a single. After Jack Collins hit the pitch, he made it to the scoring position, but both runners were later left for one.
The Aggies secured the first run of the game with one bottom groundout before the Mustangs finished the inning without causing any further damage. Heading towards the two tops was the best opportunity for Cal Poly’s game to score multiple runs.
Casey Murray Jr. led with an error that led him to first base before Zach Daudet and Vachini’s two walks. However, the Mustangs were not capitalized as Ryan Fenn popped behind the plate.
Two more innings went quietly before Cal Poli Friday starter Griffin Naese allowed Homer to pair up Texas A&M. Still, until he was relieved, Naess allowed only four hits to the No. 1 Aggies bats. The real-life Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year retired after four innings and gave way to Rees Bueno’s third appearance.
Bueno’s first batsman paid California poly for leaving the runner. Consistent base runners and singles in the next two innings gave me two more runs.
Garza got a comforting run from Calpoli in the seventh, with next batter Jack Collins extending his batting for the fifth game. Freshman Relievers’ Troy Cooper and Luke Calfsbeek have once again announced a respectable performance to keep Calpoli within the fifth run of the Texas A&M lead, but the Aggies left with one game win 6-1 So that wasn’t enough.
Except for changes due to bad weather around College Station, Saturday’s contest will take place at noon (PST) and Sunday at 11:00am (PST).
