The Texas-based Internet Service Provider (ISP) has been busy in Lone Star for several months, with construction taking place in four separate communities this year.
Headquartered in Hudson Oaks, NextLink Internet announced construction in 2025 that will reach nearly 10,000 locations so far.
The ISP’s 2025 activities began with construction announced in Rockdale, a small city in Milum County.
“Once construction is complete, NextLink will deploy fiber broadband at data speeds, up to 2 Gigabits per second (GBPS) to more than 3,300 homes and businesses in Rockdale,” the ISP’s January announcement stated.
The following month, NextLink announced three separate projects. One is Dublin, the other is Gun Barrel City, and the other is Sulfur Springs.
Located in the northeastern part of the state, Sulpher Springs is the largest community NextLink announced its construction in 2025, with a population of over 15,000.
There, NextLink hopes to connect 5,000 homes and businesses.
Meanwhile, in Dublin and Gunbarrel City, providers want around 3,900 additional locations.
“Rural-centric providers”
Nextlink founder and CEO Bill Baker calls the company a “rural-centric provider.”
“We look forward to bringing broadband to areas that we’ve been in for too long without proper service,” Baker said when he announced the start of networking in Rockdale.
In places like Sulpher Springs, NextLink is a constant presence, albeit changing.
“For years, we have been providing high-speed wireless internet services to rural Sulphur Springs residents,” Baker said in February. “So we look forward to seeing the opportunity to bring new choices in fiber internet to homes and businesses in the city.”
According to the ISP’s website, people in the community where NextLink is expanding can pre-register for a variety of plans.
