GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Texas women’s basketball team won 15 straight wins and won the SEC Tournament Championship Game spot in a 56-49 victory over LSU at Bonsecours Arena on Saturday.
Madison Booker led the Longhorns with 25 points, while Lori Harmon recorded his 700th career assist. Judge Carlton pulled down eight rebounds, with Harmon and Taylor Jones combining 19 points.
To close the first period, the Texas defense gave LSU one field goal on eight attempts, giving the Longhorns a 13-11 lead.
Madison Booker opened the second season by draining a three-pointer at the top of the key, and then guard Lori Harmon scored his 700th career assist on a pass to Kaila Ordacre. Taylor Jones sent Texas to halftime on a layup, bringing the Longhorns to 29-23. Booker led the team with 18 points, while forward Justice Carlton led Texas on the board with eight rebounds.
Booker scored the first point in the second half, drawing a foul, converting free throws, and marking the 12th game of the season with over 20 points. At the final 4:55 of the period, the Texas defense held LSU without a field goal, leading LSU to the fourth period 40-34.
In the final period, Harmon scored eight points, with guard Jordan Lee sinking a free throw to defeat LSU 56-49, sealing the victory by securing a spot in the 2025 Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship Game.
The Longhorns will then play in the championship game against 5/5 South Carolina on Sunday, March 9th at 2pm CT. The game will be aired on ESPN.
