Austin, Texas – The University of Texas No. 12 baseball team hit a season-high five home runs and used the seven-spot to run Texas A&M Colpus Christie 15-5 at the UFCU-Disch Falk Field on Tuesday evening.
The victory marked the Longhorns’ 10th victory, their longest winning streak since the 16-game stretch two years ago.
Texas (10-1) scored in all frames except one of the eight contests.
After the Islanders (6-7) took a narrow 5-4 lead, the Longhorns responded with the sixth frame of at least seven runs this season.
Left Fielder Easton Winfield leveled his score on the RBI ground.
Two batsmen, Logan Vaughn, Christie’s backstop of Texas A&M Colpas, made a dripping error to the left, allowing Texas third baseman Casey Bolva to run the house.
The Longhorns pulled three consecutive walks to extend the lead to 7-5.
Following a free pass on the base of shortstop Jalin Flores, designated batter Adrian Rodriguez padded the advantage on the run scoring ground.
After three pitches, the sophomores had Gasparino interrupted the explosion from a 3-run jack on the right centre field, pushing the cushion up to 11-5.
The Longhorns completed the run-rule victory with their fifth solo Bolva.
Overall, Texas scored 11 unansweek runs to win their second Mud Week.
In the victory, Galvan notched his first career multihomer performance, crushing a second opposite field two-run blast.
Meanwhile, sophomore second baseman Ethan Mendoza played his fourth home in the final six contests, leading the first bottom with a solo shot.
Texas currently has double-digit runs in four consecutive games, tallying a total of 50 on that stretch.
On the mound, junior right-handed Ruger Riojas (2-0) won the bailout, retiring all five batters he faced.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Righty Hurler Braden Larusso (1-1) was tagged with loss after surrendering three runs and only one.
