The Texas woman was sentenced to four years in state prison after being convicted of misuse of the trustee’s property while serving as an office manager for the auto repair business in Born, Texas.

According to the Kendall County Criminal and Criminal District Attorney’s Office, 41-year-old Casey Lynn Paulk embezzled $60,839 from his employer Brady’s auto repairs by forgerying 57 fraudulent checks between July 2022 and January 2024.

Born police have launched an investigation after reporting that business owner Mark Beldon had discovered counterfeiting checks. The detective traced fraudulent activities to Paulk, who has access to the company’s financial accounts in his role as an office manager.

Detective Amy Taylor of the Born Police Department confirmed that the scheme involves multiple checks and personal benefits, saying Paulk’s actions showed “a pattern of long-term deception and financial abuse.”

During the sentence phase, Kendall County adult probation officer Paul Sardiber testified that Paulk was convicted of seven previous felony and recommended six years in prison. Paulk had instead asked the court to take probation.

The conviction follows a 2006 case in which Paulke was found guilty at the 105th Judicial District Court in Corpus Christi on counterfeiting a financial product.

The four-year sentence was handed over on April 11th. The DA’s office said the decision took into account economic losses to the business, the seriousness of the crime and Paulk’s criminal history.
