In the wake of Tuesday’s devastating storm, National Weather Service has identified the second EF-1 tornado in North Texas.
Early Wednesday morning, investigators arrived in Wise County and discovered a narrow path of destruction near cotton, just south of Paradise. The tornado was estimated to have wind speeds of 110 mph, the Meteorological Bureau said. The investigators also pointed to extensive wind damage in most of the rest of the county, with winds ranging from 75 to 95 mph.
“The tornado formed near the intersection of FM 2123 and FM 3552, where wooden framed residences lost much of the roof and rafters,” the National Weather Service said Wednesday. “The peak intensity of the tornado was determined from the damage at this residence and estimated the wind of EF-1 intensity was approximately 110 mph. The tornado affected two outbuildings nearby, creating damage to the roof of the EF-0.
“The tornado has moved eastward, aligning county road 3470 almost parallel for at least two miles. Along this path, many large hardwood trees exhibited damage to the limbs, and some outbuilding buildings, frame residences and manufactured homes have also been dissipated near the countryside of high-end EF-0 and low-end EF-1 roofs and muscular road 3470.
