Austin – Attorney General Ken Paxton is expanding his investigation into Epic City, which is affiliated with the East Plano Islamic Centre (“Epic”) by requesting documents from local city officials who are potentially linked to real estate development.
Following Yasir Qadhi, an individual involved in Epic City, requests for records have been sent to urban leaders in Plano, Richardson and Wylie, claiming they have the support of local officials. Development is being investigated due to a potential violation of Texas law. Additionally, a record request was sent to Texas city officials.
Public Record Requests are intended to obtain communication between city leaders and staff for Epic, Epic City, and Community Capital Partners, LP. Attorney General Paxton previously issued a civil investigation demand (“CID”) as part of an ongoing investigation.

“If local officials are supporting or communicating with the property development under investigation for a potential violation of state law, it is essential to be aware of exactly what is being told,” Attorney General Paxton said. “As part of our ongoing investigation into Epic City, we will thoroughly review these documents and work to hold anyone who breaks Texas laws accountable.”
