Led by redshirt freshman Marcel Reed, the Texas A&M football team charged into the swamp and defeated the Gators in a commanding victory. The 33-20 victory over Florida was head coach Mike Elko’s first SEC win and a positive momentum boost for the team heading back to Bryan-College Station.
Not only was this Mike Elko’s first representative win as leader of Aggiesland, but it also ended a SEC road losing streak dating back to the 2021 season, and he made some simple comments after the game that brought a smile to the faces of every Aggies fan.
“It’s been zero days since we won an SEC game on the road, so that’s a good thing.”
They overcame an injury to starting quarterback Connor Weigman and a weather-related delay returning to a rain-soaked field, with backup quarterback Marcel Reid running the offense very comfortably and leading the team to over 300 yards rushing for the second straight game.
While there were many positives and areas for improvement from the game, the win shows the team is moving in the right direction. Below are some of the best images from Saturday’s win.
