Coach Steve Sarkisian and the University of Texas football organization continued their major push to recruit the Class of 2025 on the morning of Aug. 30, successfully landing elite five-star Mandarin wide receiver Jamie French from Jacksonville, Florida.
French committed to the University of Texas over the Miami Hurricanes, Louisiana State Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers during the high school’s admissions ceremony on Friday morning. He is the second five-star wide receiver to commit to the Longhorns’ 2025 class in August.
Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff landed three five-star players in August, including French, Galveston (Tex.) ball athlete/safety Jonah Williams and Saxe (Tex.) wide receiver Kalik Lockett, and that’s to say nothing of the other big man the Longhorns recently landed in August in the 2025 class, four-star offensive tackle Nick Brooks of Loganville (Ga.) Grayson.
With 19 players currently scheduled to enroll in the 2025 class, the Longhorns appear on track to assemble a class that will again be ranked in the top five in the nation in this season’s 247Sports Composite.
Following French’s commitment on Aug. 30, here are the projections for the next 2025 recruits in this class to commit to the Longhorns.
Texas is in the running to land one of the nation’s highest-rated uncommitted high school linebackers in the 2025 class entering the fall, four-star Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng from IMG Academy in Manassas, Virginia. The No. 5 linebacker prospect in the country for the 2025 class per the On3 Industry Rankings named Texas a top-five finalist earlier this summer.
Brian Doane of 247Sports reported on August 27 that Owusu-Boateng has set a date for his official visit as the Longhorns host the Georgia Bulldogs at DKR in a marquee SEC matchup on October 19. If Owusu-Boateng comes to campus for Texas’ official visit in the coming months, it will be a good sign that the Longhorns will be a real threat to acquire the player.
Owusu-Boateng will also reportedly be taking an official visit to Gainesville this weekend to watch the Florida Gators host Miami at The Swamp.
Texas has some recruiting connections that are helping Owusu-Boateng with his recruiting efforts heading into the fall, with freshman safety Jordan Johnson-LeBell and freshman running back Jerrick Gibson, both former teammates of Owusu-Boateng’s from his time at IMG Academy, reportedly helping recruit him to Austin.
Owusu-Boateng has already taken official visits to the USC Trojans, Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Ohio State Buckeyes over the summer.
