Selena Vive: Selena’s music
Majestic Theater, San Antonio, January 3-5.
The San Antonio Philharmonic will pay homage to the late Queen of Tejano with a three-night performance featuring the genre’s young star, 21-year-old Isabel Marie Sanchez. Sanchez, who has been a fixture in the Tejano scene for more than a decade, is no stranger to Selena’s music. She was “discovered” by the icon’s father. He covered “Dreaming of You” on his 2017 album “SÃgueme”. Performed at Fiesta de la Flor, an annual festival for Selena fans. And it’s also part of other musical tributes to the singer.

The oldest continuously running event of its kind is back for its 129th year, featuring all things cowboy, including lamb butchering, fiddle showdowns, horse IQ tests, and, of course, the classic livestock show. It is a content that cowgirls can enjoy. The doors are open 23 days in a row, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the carnival rides, food, drinks, and music.

In this illustrated history, Corcoran, a Texas Monthly contributor who passed away suddenly in July, delves into a century of Austin’s music scene. He has spent four decades writing about his homeland, covering everything from the German singing societies of the late 19th century to the rise of Stevie Ray Vaughan to the story of the much-mourned Aqua Fest music festival that closed in 1998. He is very knowledgeable about this. .
