ARLINGTON, Texas – Arlington Police have announced an arrest in connection with the murder of Marquis Holliman, 38, who was shot to death at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Cypress Club Drive.
After a detailed investigation, Arlington Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Robert Kelly, 31, on suspicion of murder. On November 7, agents with the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force arrested Kelly in the Shreveport area. Kelly is currently being held in the Shreveport City Jail awaiting extradition to Texas.
Investigators believe that on the night of the incident, Holliman, a resident of the apartment complex, approached a neighboring apartment where several people were gathered and began screaming. Witnesses reported that he got into an argument with the woman and pushed her. A man then confronted Holliman, and multiple gunshots were fired shortly after.
Officers responded to the scene and found Holliman unresponsive on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives initially had few leads, but later received multiple anonymous tips through Tarrant County Crime Stoppers that identified a man known as “Mike Mike” as the shooter. Further investigation revealed that “Mike Mike” was Kelly.
As the investigation progressed, additional witnesses came forward, implicating Kelly at the crime scene. One witness reported seeing Kelly with a firearm in his waistband shortly before the shooting.
Police also learned that Kelly frequently stayed at the apartment where the shooting occurred. During the unit’s search, investigators recovered ammunition matching the make and model of a spent shell casing found at the scene, as well as other personal items associated with Kelly.
