The Oklahoma Soulers needed a full team effort to beat Austin’s Texas Longhorns on Saturday night, significantly improving their chances for the NCAA Tournament. He advanced Sam Godwin and on a night Jeremiah feared, Jaron Moore gathered to shoot just 19% off the field.
The six, led by Brycen Goodine’s 14 points, scored with double figures, including Glen Taylor Jr. and Luke Northweather.
It wasn’t an easy first season with the SEC for Oklahoma and head coach Porter Moser. Just three weeks ago, Sooner had been away from his fifth straight loss, so Oklahoma appeared dead underwater. Certainly the series of losses included four top 25 teams, among which was LSU’s loss, with the remaining five leading in 24 seconds.
However, Moser kept the team together, and they beat Mississippi No. 21, making it 3-2 in the final five games. The loss was brought by a total of four points to Kentucky, and an All-Miss team that was ranked in the top 25 at the time.
The Sooners won two straight times as the Texas victory saw Porter Moser win their first victory with the Texas Longhorns. Oklahoma still has the SEC tournament first, but the Sooners did enough to punch tickets to Big Dance.
Below is how social media responded to Sooner’s victory over Texas in the aftermath of their victory.
