Norman, Oklahoma – It appeared that either team had the opportunity to win through a 7-2 defeat in Texas’ first two innings in Oklahoma on Saturday night.

And Ella Parker hit a solo home run at the bottom of the third. Abigale Dayton and Cassidy Pickering added the appearance of the run scoring plate in the fourth. Dayton once again added two more runs to the fifth Sooners scoreboard.

Before the Longhorns knew that, they had faced a first run rule loss since May 2023 after their sixth two home runs from Nelly McEnroe Marinas’ bat. The final run was on 1 base, with two people apart at the bottom of the sixth, so Ailana Agbayani, who ran on five runs in Friday’s contest, stood at the plate.

However, Mac Morgan was able to see Agbayani at At Bat’s eight pitch.

When Texas came in the top of the seventh, the Longhorns had only recorded one hit in the game. In the next four innings, a walk to Victoria Hunter and Leia Angood was the only base runner for the visitors.

Two away in the final frame, Stewart collected the second hit of the game, putting 85 miles of 0-1 pitch out of the bat for a 225-foot single from the center of the wall on the left field. After four pitches, Hunter pushed the Longhorns into the run column with a two-run home run. This is the first long ball since February 9th, 2025.

Vanessa Kiroga continued her seven inning rally attempts by sending her first pitch over the left fielder’s head with two doubles in the bat. However, a flyout to the right field by Leighann Goode ended the game.

From head coach Mike White

“Obviously, we were beaten quite generously tonight by a good team who did a good job eating themselves. They pitched well, had good defensiveness and overall plagued us throughout the game. We mixed her pitches in different places and did a good job keeping her speed down.”

Game Notes

The Texas offense hit at least one home run in Norman’s last five consecutive games against Oklahoma as a result of Victoria Hunter’s two-run home run at the top of seven innings Saturday. Back in the 2021 season, the Longhorns hit at least one home run in seven of their last eight games against more star pitching at Norman. 2008 was the last time Texas had never hit Norman’s at least one home run in multiple games against Oklahoma. On a two-run home run at Saturday’s contest, Texas sophomore Victoria Hunter currently has 25 career RBIs. Hunters will take part in the next game, with an average of 0.33 RBI per plate. As a result of her 225-foot single at the top of seven innings, Katie Stewart has hosted a multi-hit game against five different SEC opponents this season.

next

Texas (42-8, 13-7) will close the five-game slate across Oklahoma on Sunday, April 27th. The Longhorns concluded their three-game meeting series with the Oklahoma Poothers (41-5, 15-5) at 1pm on ESPN2.
