Several Texas football coaches, including head coach Steve Sarkisian, began recruiting this weekend while the Longhorns are on hiatus.
Sarkisian was at Louisville (Texas) High School on Friday to watch Oklahoma five-star recruit Michael Fasuci make offensive tackle in a game against Denton (Texas) Guyer.
Fasci has been committed to Oklahoma since Aug. 21, but Texas, Texas A&M and others continue to express interest in the elite pass protector. When Fasci committed, he told On3 that Texas A&M came in second in commitments and the Longhorns came in third.
The 6-foot-5, 299-pound Fasci is the nation’s No. 13 prospect in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 industry rankings, a weighted average using all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 3 offensive tackle in the class and the No. 6 recruit out of Texas.
On3’s scouting and rankings team wrote this about the prospect Fasci:
“Physical offensive lineman with natural strength and development. Measured in the On3 Elite Series before his senior season at 6-foot-5, 299 pounds, with 9.75-inch hands. Plus, his arm length is 34⅞ inches, giving him a barrel-chested build. He gained a lot of size in the offseason between his sophomore and junior years. He spends most of his time as a left tackle, but has also played on the right side. He is a defensive lineman. Holds tight and keeps his feet moving during contact. Gets a lot of push when attacking. Plays with an edge and tries to finish blocks with authority.
“Showed encouraging growth on the field as a junior, adding strength to his play. Overall solid athlete and has the potential to continue developing as a pass protector. Improves lateral agility and balance.” He also has a tendency to rush and lose his balance when playing against college-level prospects in a camp environment. His ability in the run game gives him position versatility to play tackle or guard long-term. He’s in a high position. His ultimate ceiling will depend on continued improvement in his pass protection, but there are upsides.”
