According to US Customs and Border Patrol, a man with ties to the cartel was arrested by the Rio Grande Valley Sector anti-crowded forces near Brownsville, Texas.
Who was the recent arrest of the Texas Border Patrol?
The man was believed to be active in the country under the name of the Commandante Pony when police stopped traffic. His real name, Fabian Silva Agri, was identified as a Mexican citizen and not legally permitted within the United States.

What is the Gulf Cartel?
Silva-Aguirre is believed to have ties to the Gulf Cartel, one of Mexico’s oldest crime groups.
The organization has lost some influence in recent years due to arrests and territorial losses, but it controls most of the US-Mexican border near the Gulf Coast.
According to insight crimes, the group’s notable smuggling missions include cocaine, methane, powerful weapons, cash and immigration.
The Gulf Cartel, although fractured by many factions, was traditionally operated from the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Controlling this and nearby states in Mexico gave criminal groups a clear advantage over weapons, drugs and people’s flows through the border.
