TEMPLE, Texas — Yeeehaw!
The Temple Police Department will be giving back to the community in a different way ahead of this year’s Olympics and raising money for charity in the process.
On Thursday, July 25, Temple Police Department members will be working as guest waiters and waitresses at Temple Texas Roadhouse to help raise funds for Special Olympics Texas.
Texas Roadhouse is located at 624 N General Bruce Dr in Temple, Texas. Officers will be serving at the restaurant from 5 to 9 p.m.
Killeen Police will also be hosting the same event on July 25 from 5 to 9 p.m. at 3709 E. Central Texas Expressway, and Waco Police will be holding the same event the same day at 2815 La Salle Avenue.

Texas Special Olympics is an organization whose purpose is to “provide year-round training and competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing ongoing opportunities to improve their physical strength, demonstrate their courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of talents, skills and friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.”

The event is part of the annual “Tip-A-Cop” charity events held across Texas.
