March 10, 2025 – “I commend President Trump’s decision to delay tariffs on agricultural goods and products in Mexico and Canada included in the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). This decision will provide more time for open negotiations with both countries and, most importantly, short-term relief and time for farmers. It also fully supports President Trump’s initiative to utilize tariffs to restore fair and equitable trade agreements that benefit Americans. His continued tariff strategy will strengthen domestic production, attract new investments, promote employment growth, and ultimately reduce costs for American consumers. There are periods of difficult short-term adjustments for farmers who are already facing difficulties, but our agriculture industry is stronger and more resilient than ever before.
It’s only seven weeks away and we understand that many farmers and ranchers need immediate relief, but we must give President Trump and the USDA’s Brook Rollins Department the time they need to address the economic challenges left behind by the Biden administration. This includes reviews and releases of funds that remain frozen in the USDA. During Trump’s previous administration, we saw first hand how tariffs strengthened American agriculture. We have won those trade wars before, and we will win them again. The evidence lies in the ongoing efforts to ensure better deals for Americans.
The president of modern history has not been steadfast in fulfilling his campaign promises in his two terms, just like President Trump. There is no doubt that he will deliver again to American farmers and businesses again. ”
