Since LSU’s downturn in late October, Texas A&M has really ramped up its recruiting efforts, landing a number of commitments from blue-chip prospects in the 2026 cycle.
While building a solid foundation for the next class is important for the Aggies, head coach Mike Elko and his staff have decided to build a solid base for the 2025 class, which currently ranks No. 9 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. I’m trying to finish it off.
According to the On3 recruiting prediction machine, A&M is likely to flip five-star offensive tackle Lamont Rodgers of Mesquite (Texas) Horn, 6-foot-7, Missouri State.
Since signing with the Tigers in the summer, Rodgers has returned to College Station multiple times. In early October, On3 vice president of recruiting Steve Wiltfong recorded the pick in favor of the Aggies luring Rodgers away from Mizzou. Since then, multiple other predictions have followed across the industry.
“The Aggies have continued to make steady progress, and what they’re doing on the field this season has caught (Rogers’) attention, and a visit to the Texas game in late November with signing day just around the corner is a big one. It could have meaning,” said the On3 director. Recruiter Chad Simmons wrote on October 31st:
Eli Drinkwitz is one of the Tigers’ two recent five-star players this season. Mizzou is doing everything it can to make the Lone Star State stand out in the class as the early signing period approaches, but the arrow appears to be headed toward College Station this fall.
Rodgers is the No. 29 overall prospect and No. 5 OT in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 industry rankings, a weighted average using all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 9 player in Texas.
Aggies would like to introduce a solid office lady class
Texas A&M already has six in-state commitments on the offensive line this cycle: four-star IOL Nelson McGuire from Midlothian, four-star IOL Marcus Garcia from Denton Ryan and four-star IOL Marcus Garcia from Cypress Bridgeland. OT Jonte Newman, Prosper 3-star IOL Connor Carty, Dickinson 3-star IOL Tyler Thomas and Spring Legacy 3-star IOL Joshua Moses.
But Rodgers is a numbers-cruncher. Adding a 300-pounder to the pledge list remains a top priority for the A&M staff. A&M’s class has 22 total commits, ranking No. 7 in the SEC.
If Rodgers turns things around, he would be the second five-star player in A&M’s class, joining Corona (Calif.) Centennial five-star quarterback Huthan Longstreet. Golden State’s signal caller is one of six top-150 prospects in the class.
