Head Coach Michael Ely talks about the Aggies’ thinking ahead of Game 1
Texas A&M head coach Michael Yearly knows they have a target on their backs. He tells reporters that it doesn’t matter because the approach remains the same.
College Station – Texas A&M baseball’s postseason chances will have another big hit on Saturday.
The Tigers didn’t win the weekend in SEC play, but they could now defeat the Aggies in a row in the game, stun A&M and stunt that playoff aspiration.
The Aggies were hitless up to six innings and continued to struggle offensively, a typical weekend theme.
A&M had not scored runs in 14 straight innings before running once at the bottom of the ninth, dating back to the third inning on Friday night.
The 1 hour and 51 minute delay meant that both starting pitchers had a short outing, so each team went to the bullpen to crush the remaining matchups.
A&M starter Justin Lamkin went into three innings and allowed two runs with five hits on 53 pitches.
Tigers starting pitcher Samhorn was able to pitch just two innings and did not allow a run or hit on 36 pitches.
Horn finished the day with five strikeouts and one walk on 36 pitches.
Next is the final match of the series on Sunday at 1pm. The Aggies try to save one game from the weekend and fight for their constant postseason chances.
