Today is March 20th, 2025. On this date in Texas history, Cameron Ridley and the UT Men’s Basketball team defeated Arizona State on a buzzer.
With Texas and Arizona fighting in Milwaukee in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, the Longhorns were given the opportunity to break an 85-85 tie in the final seconds of regulation. Texas forward Jonathan Holmes attempted a long three-pointer.
Ridley’s buzzer-stimulating basket helped Texas save the victory after the team blew a 14-point lead in the second half.
Texas hasn’t gained momentum from a dramatic victory over Arizona, and Michigan ended its Longhorns season two days later. The Longhorns closed their 2013-14 campaign with a 24-11 record.
