Texas-based cannabis business Hometown Hero is supporting veterans efforts with a significant donation to the Texas Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The company, which donates a portion of its sales to charities and organizations that support veterans, has pledged to donate $60,000 to the Texas VFW ahead of Veterans Day on Monday, November 11th.
The donation is intended to support the expansion of the Texas VFW by providing needed resources to veterans and subsidizing costs associated with new membership, according to a news release.
The Texas VFW has 288 posts and approximately 60,000 members across the Lone Star State. Hometown Hero previously worked to install Delta-8 vending machines at posts to give veterans access to legal cannabis products.
The VFW provides veterans with important resources, including access to medical care, educational programs, and benefits.
Lucas Gilkey, co-founder of Hometown Hero and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, said of the donation: This donation is our way of giving back to those who have sacrificed so much for our country. ”
Hometown Hero is a cannabis business founded in 2015 and headquartered in Austin, Texas. The business manufactures and sells products such as Delta-8 edibles and flowers, Delta-9 consumables and e-cigarettes, THC beverages, and CBD.
Cynthia Cabrera, Hometown Hero’s chief strategy officer, previously told LoneStarLive.com, “The veteran community has been a tremendous support and resource to this cause, and without them the industry would not be possible. I don’t know what would have happened.”
Texas VFW State President Mitch Fuller, who fights for the right of veterans to choose which cannabis products work for them when it comes to relief, previously told LoneStarLive.com, “Cannabis-derived consumptive Products are saving lives. Period.
