Texas Community Bank (TCB), a locally-based financial institution with deep roots along the South Texas-Mexico border, is proud to announce the South Texas Affordable Homes of America initiative as part of its ongoing commitment to fostering positive change. Donated $3,500 to South Texas (AHST). This annual gift highlights the bank’s dedication to supporting nonprofit organizations that address critical community needs, particularly housing and homeownership.
Connie Gonzalez, vice president and branch manager of Texas Community Bank, expressed great pride in representing a financial institution with deep roots in the community.
“It’s great, I’m so happy,” Connie said. “I’m really happy to be welcomed into these organizations. Giving goes a long way to the community. I’m happy to be a part of this great financial institution that gives so much to the community, and I As a member of the organization, I can deliver donations and see the smiles on their faces.”
AHST President and CEO Bobby Calvillo, who has been with the organization for almost 29 years, emphasized the importance of Texas Community Bank’s support.
“We are always happy to see our friends at Texas Community Bank donate annually,” Calvillo said. “These unrestricted funds are extremely difficult to obtain, but extremely valuable. We can support you.”
These funds allow AHST to directly assist families in need without the bureaucratic hurdles typically associated with other funding sources. “With this, we can help people without having to ask a thousand questions or get a copy of this or that. Going to help people is what we want to do. ” Calvillo explained.
Approximately 50 years of impact on housing
Since its founding nearly 50 years ago, AHST has led the way in solving substandard living conditions in South Texas. From humble beginnings as a community-driven initiative, the organization has grown into a major force in affordable housing, providing nearly 5,000 homes through new construction and renovations.
Recently, AHST expanded its services to include subdivisions in Harlingen, Texas. This is an important milestone in our mission to serve the entire Rio Grande Valley.
“Among other services, we are also a general contractor. We have the freedom to make changes as needed, which can save us a lot of money,” Calvillo said. “This allows us to focus on what matters most: empowering families through homeownership.”
Jonathan Coody, vice president and head of commercial lending at Texas Community Bank, reflected on the importance of such partnerships. Coody, who has been with TCB for nine years, recognizes the importance of collaboration.
“At Texas Community Bank, we strongly believe in collaboration. Together, we can create meaningful change that uplifts families and strengthens communities,” Coody said. “We are extremely grateful to be able to support the mission of affordable housing in South Texas with this monetary donation.”
Mr. Coody also praised the efforts of AHST leadership and staff. “I would like to thank Bobby Calvillo and the South Texas Affordable Homes team for their tireless efforts to help families and foster hope in our communities. We look forward to building on this partnership. We’re excited to help make the dream of homeownership a reality for many here in the Rio Grande Valley.”
Calvillo summed up the partnership perfectly: “Texas Community Bank’s contributions are invaluable and allow us to serve our communities the way we want to do it.”
