Texas is considering a plan to send buses full of illegal immigrants to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) instead of sending them to sanctuary cities. This measure will also be accompanied by an increase in the number of illegal alien buses.
Officials in Lone Star State believe that this measure will speed up deportation procedures for illegal immigrants. Texas wants to address the nation’s ongoing border crisis and is part of Gov. Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star initiative.
“As long as we are a border state, we will always be involved in border security. We spend a lot of taxpayer money to have equivalent deterrence at our borders, and we can’t just walk away.” A Texas government official told the New York Post.
In this regard, the source said that the logistics of carrying out the plan include buses chartered by the state of Texas from border cities being transferred to federal detention centers from sanctuary cities such as New York, Chicago and Denver to transport ICE officers. He explained in detail that he would provide support.
Meanwhile, incoming border czar Tom Homan said that although the governor had not mentioned the plan, he would be happy to help move it forward.
“We’re going to help them finish this job and secure Texas, and we’re going to work together. And (Abbott) is going to help the government sue him in order to secure the Texas border.” You don’t have to worry about doing it,” Homan said.
Since 2022, Texas has transported nearly 120,000 migrants by bus from the border to New York, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Chicago, according to NYP estimates.
Governor Abbott recently explained that the state is moving forward with Operation Lone Star. Republicans insisted they were committed to doing everything possible to curb the immigration crisis.
“Texas continues to deploy all available tools and strategies in our historic border mission to protect and defend our state and nation,” Governor Abbott posted on social media.
In that regard, Abbott emphasized that Texas has reduced the number of illegal border crossers into the state by more than 86%. He emphasized that fewer people entering Texas illegally means fewer migrants being transported to sanctuary cities. ”
Additionally, the governor shared photos of the Texas National Guard fortifying the border wall in preparation for the possibility of large-scale immigration, according to the official Texas government website.
