The Texas Longhorns are one of the biggest names in the entire college football world. Texas has claimed four national titles throughout its celebrity history of 1963, 1969, 1970 and 2005.
The Longhorns have produced two winners of the Heisman Trophy over the years. Earl Campbell in 1977 and Ricky Williams in 1998. Vince Young was also one of the best college football players of the 2000s, and it seems strange that the man who led Texas to the 2005 national title didn’t win Heissman. (He finished second in 2005 at Reggie Bush at USC.)
The Longhorns won 33 conference titles, only four of which appeared in the Big 12. Most conference championships appeared at the Southwest Conference, known as Home from 1915 to 1995.
Texas is a member of the SEC as of 2024. Following the 2023 season, the club will begin playing off college football. Coach Steve Sarkisian and see what the company’s new conference has.
