The Texas Football Team will be without one of its biggest supporters as mascot Bebo will miss the College Football Playoff quarterfinals at the Peach Bowl. According to OnTexas Football’s Bobby Burton, this is the second time the mascot has been absent. Bebo was banned from the SEC Championship Game due to spacing issues. After all, the Longhorn himself is a mascot that weighs around 1,700 pounds and takes up a lot of space. Also, he’s a wild animal, so when Bevo gets rowdy, he gets rowdy too.
One of the more horrifying incidents occurred in 2022, when Bebo nearly snatched Ugga, the University of Georgia Bulldogs mascot, on the sideline. Bebo barges in and almost takes the dog out. A 1,700 pound bulldog versus a 60-70 pound bulldog is quite a comparison, and neither could have been better.
Texas football misses Bebo in Peach Bowl
Additionally, the Peach Bowl will be played at the same venue as the SEC title game. Reasons for excluding Bebo from SEC games included lack of space. It is surrounded by a dome and is a little more enclosed than other stadiums. Needless to say, getting Bevo into the stadium may be more work than most.

The Longhorns will face Arizona State, which has been a Cinderella story thus far. The 11-2 record was capped off by a Big 12 Championship win over Iowa State. The SEC and Big 12 schools will play each other on New Year’s Day. For Texas football, head coach Steve Sarkisian thanked fans for their support in the first-round win over Clemson.
But Bebo was in the game. He is excluded from the Peach Bowl and Sparky the Sun Devil is marched down the sideline. Still, the Longhorn fanbase is going to do everything they can to make their presence felt. They’ll find a way to bring Austin, Texas, to the Peach State, even if it means doing something special.
