Jared Shelton has been named president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.
He is scheduled to take up his duties on September 22nd.
Prior to moving to Texas Health Fort Worth Hospital, Shelton served as president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hurst-Euless-Bedford Hospital for two years.
He succeeds Joseph DeLeon, who left the hospital to become president and CEO of Roper St. Francis Healthcare in Charleston, South Carolina, a role he had held since 2018.
“Jared is a rising star at Texas Health Resources and we are pleased that he will continue his career at one of our largest hospitals,” Kirk King, chief operating officer of Texas Health’s hospital channel, said in a statement. “Under his leadership at Texas Health Fort Worth, we expect the hospital to continue to grow to meet the needs of the community we serve.”
Harris Methodist Hospital is an 851-bed full-service hospital serving North Texas with a Level I Trauma Center.
Texas Health Resources is a faith-based, not-for-profit health system serving more patients in North Texas – more than 7 million people across 16 counties – than any other health system. Texas Health operates 29 hospitals: Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, Texas Health Presbyterian, Texas Health Arlington Memorial and Texas Health Hagley. The system has more than 4,100 licensed beds, 6,400 physicians with active staff privileges and approximately 29,000 employees.
Prior to leading Texas Health HEB, Shelton served as president of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen for six years and then served in progressively higher leadership roles at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas for six years, rising to vice president of professional and support services.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and his master’s in healthcare administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. He currently serves on the ACHE Board of Directors for the North Texas Region and is a member of the Policy Development Committee for the Texas Hospital Association.
Next month, Shelton will receive the 2024 Momentum Award from Trinity University’s Healthcare Management Alumni Association in recognition of outstanding achievement in healthcare management.
