Austin, Texas – Texas lawmakers took a major step towards strengthening economic, cultural and policy ties with the UK by launching a bipartisan Texas legislative meeting on Tuesday.
The newly established Friends of the British Caucus, co-chaired by Senators Tan Parker and Claudia Ordaz, is dedicated to strengthening trade and investment between Texas and the UK, and is committed to energy, technology and health. It focuses on care.
The initiative will strengthen the UK’s position as Texas’s leading trading partner partner.
Speaking at the Texas State Capitol, Senator Parker highlighted, stated, and stated longstanding relationships between Texas and the UK.
Of course, friendship with the UK, as many people in this room know, goes back to the time of the Republic of Texas… We reach across the Atlantic and create new opportunities for growth. Galveston was home to the first British consulate in Texas in 1846, highlighting the longstanding relationship between the UK and Lone Star state.
The announcement was part of Britfest, part of a series of legislative and business roundtables focusing on strengthening commercial, cultural and political cooperation between Texas and the UK.
British consul general Suzyvan Seizan expressed his enthusiasm for the new Caucus.

At a private reception in a real building in downtown Austin, the HI Tech Motorcars Luxury Car Dealership featured two iconic British brands: Bentley and Aston Martin.
General Seizan said,

Going forward, the British Consulate will participate in SXSW at British Music Embassies and British homes, further strengthening the cultural and economic ties between Texas and the UK.
