Texas Longhorns is the top contender for landing 2027 quarterback Payton Houston, Rivals Report’s Sam Spiegelman.
Houston, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, visited Texas on multiple occasions.
“We could see how he helps the quarterback reach the next level,” Houston told Spiegelman.
Texas is rolling with quarterback recruiting with No. 1 in Country Archmanning in the class of 2023, Tray Owens nationwide in 2024 and 5-star Dia Bell in the class of 2026. .
“I always say to these guys when I’m a quarterback, and it seems I chose this,” coach Steve Sarkisian told Kay and Adams. We chose to be at the University of Texas. Certainly, everything is getting bigger in Texas. Austin’s spotlight has a really good team. So some of such things come with the territory. But that’s what we chose to do. No one forced us to do this. So let’s embrace that and make this a great experience. ”
Throughout his career at USC, Alabama and Texas, Sarkisian has coached notable quarterbacks such as Cody Kessler, Matt Reinato, Carson Palmer, Mc Jones and Tuatago Viroa.
Houston is in good hands.
Like Texas, Georgia and LSU have emerged as established candidates for Houston’s recruitment. With a total of 25 offers, rivals now predict that Houston will end up in Oklahoma. He made his latest informal school visit to Texas on January 25th.
As of February 4th, rivals rank Evangel Christian Quarterback seventh in the nation and second in Louisiana. The high school sophomore recorded 445 yards, 38 touchdown passes and 312 completions with 445 attempts and six intercepts.
