How to watch
What you need to know
If the oddsmakers’ predictions come true, Texas’ near future could be bright. They will defend their home court against Mexico on Thursday. The Aggies made the announcement at 8 p.m. ET at the Moody Center. The Longhorns are showing off their offense this season, averaging 79 points per game.
Texas will likely enter the game with a shoulder injury, considering UW just ended the team’s winning streak at seven on Sunday. They lost to the Huskies 76-65. It was the first time this season that the Longhorns disappointed their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Texas had several players rise to the challenge and make notable plays. Tre Johnson was probably the best with 24 points and 3 steals. Johnson struggled to find his footing last Wednesday against North Carolina State, but this was a step in the right direction. Arthur Kalma was another key player and almost achieved a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds.
Texas struggled to coordinate and finished the game with just eight assists. This is the lowest number of assists they have recorded all season.
In the meantime, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but N.Mex. State ultimately got the result it expected on Saturday. They won against New Mexico by a score of 89-83. The Aggies’ win was a heroic effort by the team overcoming a 19.5 point disadvantage against the spread.
Northern Mexico. State got the win thanks to the efforts of several key players, but Christian Cook led the way, going 6-for-6, scoring 27 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. Those six threes set a career high for Cook. The team also got some help from Robert Carpenter, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Texas’ loss ended their home winning streak that started last season at eight, dropping them to 7-2. As for N. Mexico. With this win, State University ended their losing streak at five and improved their record to four wins and five losses.
This competition is becoming a disaster. Texas has been incredibly accurate this season, shooting 49.2% from the field per game. Mexico It’s a different story for Mexicans. However, State University is only shooting 41.1% from the field this season. Given that Texas has a significant advantage in that area, the N.Mex. country will need to find a way to fill that gap.
