The most interesting district of the Texas Panhandle has not been disappointed when it comes to drama as the regular season ends next week.
Dumas eliminated the drama that won the second consecutive District 4-4A Crown on Friday, but there’s a lot to see in the next three spots for teams who want to keep the season in the postseason. Pampa, West Plains and Randall, who have two games left in the regular season, all sit 8-4 in District 4-4A and return to Canyon and 7-5 final playoff spot games to finish second.
Pampaledi Haberter did what he needed by hitting Periton on the 22nd-0th. Pampa (14-6 overall, 8-4 in the district) had an incredible show from Mae Chi Hawthorn. Hawthorn threw a no-hitter in four innings to the circle with eight strikeouts and worked 3-3 at the plate with four RBIs. Brillie Daniels also excelled in a 4-4 outing, including Homer and three RBIs.
Dumas won the full District 4-4A title for the second year in a row after doubling Canyon 8-4 on Friday. The Demonettes are sitting well, 27-3 overall and 12-0 in the league. Maddie Zubia was home and finished the game 2-2 with three RBIs. Vida Fierro drove on two runs in a double, and Star Cortes worked all seven innings for the victory at Four K. With two games remaining, Canyon (20-7-2) is now fifth in the district, 7-5.
The West Plains scored a huge 6-0 shutout against rival Randall, drawing in the district’s second-place tie. Radio Wolves (12-12-1) and Randall (22-9) both became 8-4 in the district. Jaylen Kaps couldn’t believe it in the West Plains circle on Friday. Kaps handcuffed Lady Raider Hitters allowed only four hits in seven innings with 10 strikeouts. Kaps also had an RBI double.
In a collision in one other district, Hereford beat Bolger 9-8. Evelyn Brethur had a two-run double for Lady Whiteface in the victory.
Amarillo High ranks second in District 3-5A and becomes the top seed in the Class 5A Division I playoffs.
The Lady Sandies (22-8-2 overall and 13-2 in the district) did it on Wednesday with a 10-0 shutout at Lubbock High, defeating Lubbock Monterey 11-7 on Friday.
Braylee Shuffield was a 4-6 total in the winning pair between Homer and five RBIs. Amree Anglin threw both games on AHS. Against the LHS, Anglin did six innings without running at 6K.
Caprock is in serious trouble in the postseason after consecutive defeats to Lubbock Cooper and Lubbock Coronado on Wednesday and Friday. The Lady Longhorns fell to the Lady Pirates 9-6 on Wednesday, resulting in an 11-8 loss to Coronado on Friday.
Caprock (12-9-1) is currently 8-7 in District 3-5A, with the final playoff spot half of the games Lubbock High (8-6) and Lubbock Monterey (8-6). Lady Longhorns has one regular season game left at home against Plainview on Tuesday.
Despite the losses to Cooper and Coronado, Annalis Gonzalez was incredible while driving on three runs, earning a total of 7-8 in two games.


The River Road Lady Wildcats took a long trip to Childress, worthy of mileage to run for an 11-3 victory over the Lady Bobcats in a District 1-3A collision on Friday.
River Road (21-6) is alone at the top of the 1-3A race at 8-0, with two games remaining in the regular season. Childress (12-10-1) is in the postseason at 4-4 Division II level, but is fighting Canada for the top seed.
The Lady Wildcats were controlling all the way on Friday, but nailed coffin at the top of the child at the seventh top thanks to plating over the sixth run highlighted by Emma Kilman’s two-run double. Teammate Ava Sharp lived by a surname that went the circle distance with 12 strikeouts. Sharp is just 3K from 400 for her career. On the plate, Sharp made damage 2-2, 2-2, 2-4 with 2-pair RBI. Sidnee Kane won the chip by going 2-2 with two RBIs.
Bushland blasted Tulia 19-1, maintaining the game behind River Road in District 1-3A Chase. The Lady Falcons are currently 15-13 overall and 7-1 in the league. Addison Appier went 3-4 against the Lady Hornets with two doubles and three RBIs.
The Canadians were in step with Childress with a 5-2 victory with Dalhart on Friday. The Lady Cats are 17-8 overall and are currently 4-4 in the district. Freshman Madelyn Longoria has had quite a day for Canadians. In the circle, Longoria threw a complete game that sparked an eye-opening 17 strikeouts. On the plate, Longoria finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs with two doubles.
Clarendon completed the week 3-0 after a 11-0 win over Memphis on Friday. Mrs. Broncos will maintain the race 6-1 at the top of the District 2-2A race, improving to 18-5 overall. The Kennadie Cummins hit 12 Lady Cyclones in a win over five innings and hit Homer.
There were several crossover non-district games from District 1-2A on Friday. Sunray defeated Follett 26-4, while Booker defeated Highland Park 7-4.
