A Texas pediatrician’s assistant was arrested earlier this month and charged with child molestation.
Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care Center in Irving called police in August after learning that Angel Nunez, 25, was suspected of having inappropriate contact with multiple children, KDFW reported. did.
“These patients believed they were undergoing medical examinations and were not aware at the time that they were being abused,” Irving police said in a news release.
According to an arrest warrant for one of the incidents, Nunez made the 14-year-old boy undergo a hernia test during a sports physical and then touched his genitals. Nuñez was not trained for such a test and was not authorized to conduct one.
“Part of his job was to take vitals and things like that, but he wasn’t a doctor himself,” Irving Police Detective Sgt. Andy Puddlet.
Padrutt said investigators have three victims and believe there are more. The three men range in age from 9 to 15 years old, KTVT reported.
Nunez worked in Irving’s office until August, when he was fired, and previously worked at Little Spurs clinics in Grand Prairie, Arlington and Fort Worth. Investigators said the suspect worked at other clinics before working at Little Spurs.
“We recently learned that an employee exceeded the scope of his duties and performed a medical procedure outside of our established guidelines,” Little Spurs said in a statement. “Once we learned of it, we immediately reported the incident to Child Protective Services, initiated an internal investigation, and terminated the employment of the employee in question. Law enforcement continues to investigate the former employee. , we are cooperating fully with the investigation.”
Nunez posted $100,000 bail and was released pending trial.
