The grand opening of Texas Regional Bank (TRB) in Rio Grande City was a day of celebration, community engagement, and hope for economic growth. Guests gathered to welcome the bank’s newest location in Starr County, marking a milestone for the bank and the city of Rio Grande.
As the evening began, attendees were able to enter a raffle, take photos at a booth, and enjoy light refreshments. Jamie Brown Rosas, TRB’s Chief Business and Community Development Officer, excitedly opened the event by saying: This is a celebration of our commitment to the Rio Grande City community. ”
Jamie introduced several key individuals who have contributed to the bank’s vision and thanked board members for their guidance. Among those recognized were TRB Chairman and CEO Michael Scaife, board members Dr. Tony Falcon, Carlos Barrera, David Garza, John Guevara, and Brent Members of the management team included Mr. M. Baldry, Mr. Michael Ramon, and Mr. Lincoln Talbert.
Dalinda Guillen, market leader for the new branch, expressed her gratitude and pride for her team and community. Dalinda, former Economic Development Director for the City of Rio Grande, spoke about TRB’s role in fostering trust and relationships, stating, , opening an account or securing a mortgage. ”
She introduced her team of Sylvia Gallegos, Renee Martinez, Janet Longoria, Marilyn Davila, Sylvia Lopez, and Karina Perez, who received thunderous applause for their efforts.
Chairman and CEO Michael Scaife took to the stage and reflected on TRB’s history. Talking about his personal connection to the Rio Grande Valley, he said: “There is so much history in this town, and we have worked hard to honor every detail of this property, from the architecture to the photos on the walls that tell the story of this community.”
Michael praised Rio Grande City for exceeding expectations, saying, “Rio Grande City rewards Texas regional banks more when they open a branch than any other city.” It’s all thanks to the great team we have here.”
Alex Meade, executive director of public finance and economic development, emphasized the TRB’s collaboration with local leaders. “The City of Rio Grande acted faster and welcomed us more warmly than any other city we have worked with,” Alex said, thanking Gilbert Millan and the Economic Development Corporation for their support.
Mayor Gilberto Falcon took to the stage to share his joy at the city’s progress, saying: A bank is more than just a financial institution; it’s a place where dreams come true. ” The mayor praised TRB for investing in the city, creating jobs and strengthening the local economy.
The highlight of the night was a $1,000 donation to Rio Grande City High School’s award-winning ensemble Mariachi Cascabel. Their accomplishments, including performances at Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, were celebrated as local pride. Community spirit filled the air as mariachi music played.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony symbolized the beginning of TRB’s role in the future of Rio Grande City. Guests enjoyed food, drinks, and mariachi music while connecting with TRB staff and each other to celebrate shared dreams and progress.
