The Texas Senate has approved a hemp ban to more closely regulate the industry. The owner of the local store said he was worried that this would have a negative impact on his business.
Corpus Christi, Texas — The Texas Senate has passed a hemp ban, making it more strictly overlook the industry.
Panacea owner Rene Pena said he was interested in what Senate Bill 3 deems dependent on the hemp industry.
“Our customer base is scary. I’m afraid they’ll lose their right to access this drug,” he said.
Dan Patrick Central said one reason he supports the ban is that it increases the number of young people who come to similar stores. However, Pena said that wasn’t the case.
“It’s not really youth, it’s really the grandma and granddads who support our business,” he said.
House representatives 34 district officials feel that businesses are using vague advertising tactics to attract younger buyers.
“It’s not good when you’re lying around the house with your kids, these drugs, THC, etc., when you’re not in the care of others like us, and when you’re not in the care of us,” she said.
Villalobos said the hemp industry needs stricter guidelines.
“It’s dangerous and they’re susceptible to it. It’s easy to have addiction and all of those things, and we want to stop it,” she said.
Pena said some of these protocols are already in place.
“Most shops also have tobacco products. So we are already over 21. Just like in liquor stores, everyone has a card painted on our door,” he said.
