What you need to know
Golden Eagles fans had better hope their team plays quite a game on Monday. Because the odds are definitely against him. They’re on the road to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders at United Supermarket Arena starting at 8 p.m. ET. There is no doubt that the Golden Eagles are hoping to end their 11-game losing streak on the road that dates back to last season.
Oral Roberts is coming off a tough back-to-back. After surging to 83 points two weeks ago, they were further limited last Saturday against Idaho State. Their game against the Bengals wasn’t exactly a close game, but a 71-55 loss to Oral Roberts on the road nearly turned the game around. This matchup was the Golden Eagles’ lowest scoring game so far this season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Oral Roberts struggled to get the ball back on offense, finishing the game with just three offensive rebounds. This is the fewest offensive rebounds they’ve recorded since January.
Meanwhile, while the point spread may have favored Texas Tech last Sunday, the final result did not. They lost to Texas A&M 72-67. The Red Raiders’ loss marked the end of their winning streak at three.
However, this loss doesn’t tell the whole story as several players played well. Chance McMillian was the most active, scoring 23 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. Federico Federico was also a key player, recording seven points, six rebounds, and four steals.
Oral Roberts’ loss dropped their record to 3 wins and 7 losses. As for Texas Tech, the loss drops their record to 7-2.
Keep an eye out for Arc in Monday’s contest. Oral Roberts made deep shots this season, averaging 9.4 threes per game, and looked like they had an easy time making deep shots. However, Texas Tech isn’t struggling in that department as they are averaging 9.8 points per game. Given these competing strengths, it will be interesting to see how their conflict plays out.
Oral Roberts last faced Texas Tech in December 2023, losing 82-76. Can Oral Roberts make a comeback or is history destined to repeat itself? We’ll soon find out.
