The Texas High School star athlete was stabbed in the heart and died in the arms of his beloved twin brothers after a fight over his seat at the Continuous Meat, the boy’s grieving father said.
Austin Metcalf was attending athletics championships between other regional schools at Kuikendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas, when the fatal attack occurred on April 2nd.
Metcalf, a junior at Frisco ISD Memorial High School, was in the stadium stands when a conflict broke out between his teenager and 17-year-old Carmelo Anthony.
Anthony, a senior at Centennial High School, was allegedly said he was sitting in the wrong seat before drawing a knife and launching an attack, Metcalf’s father, Jeff Metcalf, told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.
Anthony, 17, is said to have stabbed Metcalf in the chest as the victim’s brother Hunter watched in horror.
Born two minutes after Austin, the Hunter was in a hurry to help his brother, but was unable to save him.
“I tried to whip as soon as possible,” emotional hunter Metcalf told the WFAA. “I saw my brother, but I’m not going to talk about the rest. I tried to help him.”
“They were twins, identical twins, and his brother was trying to hold him and stop the bleeding.
Hunter Metcalf spoke about calling his parents and stabbing them.
“I was very worried because I could see all the blood and saw where the wounds were, so I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital. And we prayed, and that’s God’s plan, I don’t understand it, but they couldn’t save him.
The teenager was declared dead at a local hospital.
“Age (17) has died despite life-saving measures by police and firefighters, including CPR and blood administration,” Frisco police said.
Anthony was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
He is in custody at Colin County Jail. No bonds are set.
The grieving father questioned his parents as he allowed Anthony to raise up and murder his son.
“I’m not trying to judge, but what parents did this child have? What did he teach? He brought a knife to the concrete meat and stabbed him in the heart and killed his son. The man was in the wrong place and asked him to keep moving (became angry and aggressive).
“What do you know, I’ll forgive this person already. Already. God takes care of things. God takes care of me. He will take care of my family,” he added.
Anthony, a 5-foot-10 free safety, revealed on social media that he received offers from several universities, mainly Division III schools.
Austin Metcalf was remembered as a star linebacker who attracted attention from school while he dreamed of playing soccer in college.
He was recently voted for the most valuable player on his team and held a 4.0 GPA, according to GoFundMe, organized by his father.
“He was a bright young man with a big future ahead of him,” Jeff Metcalf said. “He was a male leader. His smile lit up the room. His passion for football was incredible.
“We all remember him in the way he influenced the lives of others.”
