“It’ll take some time before she starts walking,” said Summer Perry’s sister, Alexandria Dewal.
MADELL, Texas – The fact that Perry is moving around behind her sister’s car in the summer is a miracle.
Perry, 15, crashed a 4-wheeler at Maydel’s grandmother’s house near Thanksgiving last year. The conflict left her six months between the two hospitals, including the period she was in coma.
“We’ve seen most people who don’t bring it to life through what she went through,” said Perry’s sister, Alexandria Dewal. “They are in vegetable state for the rest of their lives.”
Perry was released from the hospital on April 18th.
Doctors hope to be able to walk after physical therapy. For now, Perry is limited to wheelchairs. Six months in hospital bed made her rock hard for a week and became unstable.
“It’ll take some time before she starts walking,” Daywall said.
Perry, who had been on an ATV for the rest of his life, was not wearing a helmet at the time of crash.
Now Perry is urging Ryder not to make the same mistakes she made. Her sister confirmed that the family would be applying helmets from this point onwards.
“Everyone got a helmet for Christmas,” Duewall said.
Perry needs assistance with daily tasks such as taking a shower or going to bed.
“My family, they’re helping me,” Perry said.
Duewall says it’s a lot of work, but she’s happy to lend a hand in the summer.
“I want to do anything for her,” she said.
