Two Houston-area teens used Facebook Marketplace to trap victims, list them with fake products, and make false offers on other products from people they met. Committing robbery for the purpose of stealing.
On Thursday night, 22-year-old Po Lo was allegedly robbed by 17-year-old Arland Lyles and 18-year-old Christian Pickett.
Mr Lowe described how Mr Lyles was allegedly robbed by two men who pointed a gun at his chest.
“It was a pistol with a dilator on it,” Lo said in an interview with KHOU. “It was really scary.”
“When the detective showed me the photo, I knew it was him,” Roe said. “When I saw his face, I thought, ‘Wait a minute, that’s him here,'” Law said of Lyles.
Houston police say the pair have been involved in at least 15 crimes since late September, mostly on Houston’s south side.
Mr Law admitted that he met the two to purchase the items he listed on Facebook.
“I was buying something. A PS5,” Lo said.
He met them after dark at an apartment complex off Cullen Boulevard. When they met, the two robbed Law.
“He didn’t say anything, he didn’t say, ‘Hey, give me the money,'” Lo said. “He immediately pulled out a gun and pointed it at me, so I handed him the money and he walked away.”
Low, who is originally from Myanmar and works as an emergency medical technician, called the authorities even though he had almost always decided not to report the incident.
“I’m really glad that he was safe and didn’t have any injuries,” Law said.
