Texas softball returned home after being swept for the first time in Oklahoma this season.
The three-game series, which began Thursday at 6pm, has many risks for Texas (43-9, 14-8 seconds), with the fifth-placed Longhorn wasted much time during a 9-1 victory in Game 1, which lasted just five innings due to the five-run mercy rule. Victoria Hunter hit a grand slam to pace the offense, while Tegan Kaban won a full game victory in the circle.
Game 2 against Kentucky (29-23, 7-15) will take place at 11am on Friday after authorities shifted the start time from 6pm due to the threat of bad weather.

Texas vs. Kentucky softball score update
Texas is rebounding from the tough series in Oklahoma to beat Kentucky in one of the final regular-season series of Game 1.
The top of the Texas order continues to stake Kentucky’s pitching. Kayden Henry hammers an RBI double from Julie Kelley to win Ashton Maloney, scoring on the fielder selection chosen by Mia Scott’s fielder. The trio, a No. 1-3 batsman, scored a 6-6 total, earning three RBIs and four runs.

Kentucky gets his first hit with Harry Mitchell’s bunt single. 2b Leighann Goode was a little slow at first, and 3b Mia Scott was a little slower at getting out of the gloves. But it’s fine for pitcher Tegan Bagn. Tegan Kaban finishes the inning with two strikeouts.

Leadoff hitter Allie Hutchins terrified Texas starter Tegan Kaban with a foul ball about two feet from Solo Homer. That must feel good for Bag, who has struggled early in his recent excursion.
The second game in Friday’s series was moved to a start at 11am due to the threat of bad weather. Game 2 was originally scheduled for 6pm. Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at 1pm.

Texas starting pitcher
Sophomore Tegan Kaban, who took the lead in a victory in the SEC, will start in Texas. She is the longhorn ace with a 20-4 record, 2.27 ERA, 1.05 whips and 179 strikeouts on 40 walks in 141/2 innings.
Kentucky’s starting pitcher
Kentucky begins a Carson Fall with a 6-4 record, an ERA 3.67 and a 1.65 whip. She has more walks (56) than strikeouts (53).
