The original deadline for players to submit paperwork to enter the NCAA transfer portal during the winter period was Dec. 28, and Texas football has not lost anyone to the portal in that time frame in the past 48 hours.
Texas football finds three quality portal pickups during December winter transfer window
It is worth noting that the deadline for compliance departments to process and submit documents for players to enter the winter transfer portal was December 30th.
The Longhorns are still playing in the postseason College Football Playoff, so Texas players have until at least early January to enter the transfer portal. The additional period through January will give players participating in the postseason an additional five days to submit paperwork to enter the transfer portal.
Only a handful of players currently in the transfer portal have been mentioned or discussed as potential targets for the Texans during the winter. With the team eliminated from the playoffs in January and entering the portal in the coming days and weeks, the Longhorns are expected to make more moves at key positions in the coming offseason.
So far in the winter transfer window, the Longhorns have made three transfer commitments. On the defensive side of the ball, the Longhorns added two players in areas of need along the front seven. Jeff Banks and the Longhorns upgraded transfer senior punter Jack Bouwmeester, a former University of Utah Utes graduate, to the special teams unit via the portal a few weeks ago.
Here are two key wins for the Longhorns so far in the winter portal window.
