We are excited to begin entering the world of high-resolution weather models in preparation for upcoming winter weather events in Texas. Baldy Chief David Reimer provides a detailed nightly #TexasWeatherRoundup including timeline. Snow is expected to begin falling Wednesday afternoon in the border region (El Paso), Trans-Pecos, and far western Texas.
Late Wednesday into Thursday morning, a distinct rain/snow line will develop during the day, starting with light ice accumulation and varying types of precipitation across eastern Texas. This rain/snow line could gradually move northward by Thursday afternoon, reaching the area near Interstate 20 from the Permian Basin to the Big Country, North Texas and Northeast Texas.
North of this line, wet, heavy snow is possible and could impact travel. Heavy rain is expected across two-thirds of southern Texas as activity spreads eastward. All should clear out of Texas by noon Friday, but stay safe as a deep freeze could turn water and melted snow into ice Friday night into Saturday morning.
