Despite losing in the SEC Tournament Finals, the Longhorns still finished with a 31-3 record this season.
Austin, Texas – After a shortage in the Elite Eight 3 of the past four seasons, the Texas Longhorns women’s basketball team is ready to score a final four-run.
After an impressive 31-3 record this season, the Longhorns earned the first seed in the NCAA Tournament with their second straight win. Earning the No. 1 seed means that Moody Center will host the game in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. That is, the Longhorns will play at least one game at home if they can move forward beyond either William & Mary or High Point.
As the Longhorns pass the opening round game, it will become an overwhelming favorite – they will face the winner of the matchup between 8th seed Illinois and 9th seed Clayton at Moody Center in the second round.
As the Longhorns move on to Sweet 16 and Elite Eight, those games will be played in Birmingham, Alabama. If they reach the Women’s Final Four and the National Championship, those games will take place in Tampa, Florida.
After being one of the most consistent teams in the nation throughout the season, the Longhorns could potentially take part in the NCAA Tournament as a favorite to reach the Final 4. But if they ultimately want a breakthrough, they may have to face familiar enemies along the way. Notre Dame, one of two teams to beat Texas this season, is the third seed in the bracket.
