AUSTIN — Gov. Greg Abbott and incoming U.S. border czar Tom Homan spoke at a thank you service for Operation Eagle’s Operation Lone Star to hundreds of Texas National Guard soldiers, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) soldiers and others stationed along the border. They expressed their gratitude to the soldiers and provided them with meals. Pass and Edinburg.
“You are essential to preserving Texas’ sovereignty and ensuring its security,” Governor Abbott said. “Someone has to stand up for the rule of law, and that’s the men and women of the Texas National Guard and the Texas Department of Public Safety. This mission is critical to our future. I couldn’t be more proud. At this Thanksgiving, I want to thank you and your work today, especially those of us who are Texans and Americans.”
“Without border security, there can be no strong national security,” said Homan, the next U.S. border czar. “We’re seeing unprecedented success in Texas. This is a model that can spread across the country. Everyone here needs to understand that you are national heroes and you are saving the country. What we’ve done is not only protect Texas and Texans, but protect this country.”
The governor and the next U.S. border czar were also joined at the Thanksgiving ceremony by National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) Chairman Paul Perez, Texas Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Thomas Selser, DPS Secretary Steve McCraw, and Texas Border Czar Mike Banks.
“What we’re doing here is important,” said NBPC Chairman Perez. “You’ve protected our country from all kinds of threats. Everything you’ve done as a member or Guard member has saved lives. As a veteran and as someone who has a son currently in the Army, I would like to thank you for your service.”
“This Thanksgiving, we come together to express our gratitude for your selfless dedication to the great state of Texas,” said General Suelser. “Your commitment to securing our borders and protecting our communities reflects the highest ideals of the Texas National Guard.”
“Texas, and America, is safer because of the hardworking people of the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Military Department,” said McCraw. “The sacrifices they are making are significant and cannot be ignored, especially during this time. I would like to once again join Governor Abbott here to thank them for their great work in securing our southern border. I’m proud.”
“Days like today are some of the most rewarding days that bring home the men and women of the Texas Military and Public Safety Department,” said Texas Border Czar Banks. “It is truly an honor to serve the people we serve as Texas looks forward to working with new partners to combat the border crisis.”
After the Thanksgiving meal at Eagle Pass, Governor Abbott and the incoming U.S. Border Emperor Homan received information from General Suelzer, Secretary McCraw, and Texas Border Emperor Banks about the efforts and successes under Texas’ historic border mission. The governor and the next U.S. Border Czar then provided an aerial tour of Operation Lone Star assets in the Eagle Pass area, including razor wire barriers and storage containers to deter and repel illegal immigration.
