The Quad City-based International Trade Association has moved its headquarters to Texas to approach business associates.

“This has been debated for years. …This move will take some time, but it will probably happen in two years,” Pedersen said in a phone interview with the Quad Cities Regional Business Journal on Wednesday, March 19th.
Founded in Moline and based on decades at Moline’s 1900 19th St., ARA is an International Trade Association for equipment and event rental businesses and manufacturers and suppliers of rental equipment. ARA headquarters have been in Moline for 70 years.
“After a national search process, the American Rental Association is strategically positioning its members for the future needs and workforce by launching the headquarters’ transition to Dallas,” Ara said. News Release Sunday, March 9th. “This transition is a step-by-step process and takes years to complete and guarantees that there are fewer staff disruptions now.”
Pedersen told QCBJ that the exact timeline and speed of its movement will be largely determined by when the ARA headquarters building will be sold.
The organization’s 19,072-square-foot headquarters, located near the intersection of city streets and Interstate 74, is currently being sold by Iowa Realty for around $2.2 million. (go here For more information about the list. )
Once that sale is complete, ARA will move forward to finding a new business home in the Dallas area, and current employees at ARA headquarters may begin moving to Texas. Pedersen said these transfers will be on a “personal basis” with some workers moving, while others will go to Texas and likely leave the company.
The board’s chairman added that the transition to Texas has been in the works for many years. The main motivation behind the relocation is to place the ARA headquarters on a more centralized business site that is more convenient for groups members across the country.
