Jennifer Feuquay, who teaches art and one theatre at Tolar High School, is also taking part in the National Teacher of the Year Competition.
Troller, Texas – Teachers of Tomorrow, an alternative teacher accreditation program, have announced North Texas Art Teachers as Teachers of the Year 2025 Teachers of the Year.
Jennifer Feuquay, who teaches art and one-act theatre at Tolar High School, was appointed teacher of the year for their dedication and passion, said Teachers of Tomorrow.
“Sometimes there’s the joy of encountering a naturally born teacher,” said Brian Rosson, the mentor who nominated Feuquay in a statement. “Her lessons are perfectly planned and detailed, as if she’s been teaching for many years. Feuquay is dedicated to her profession and teaches art as if it were one of the most important subject areas of her studies.”
Feuquay said her main goal as an art teacher is to encourage students to discover their individuality through their artwork.
“Even if they doubt their artistic abilities, I want them to understand that they are artists, because no one else will create them exactly the same as them,” Feuquay said in a statement. “I strive to teach and guide my students, but I continue to learn from them. Every day I remember that being part of their educational journey is both a privilege and a responsibility that I don’t underestimate.”
Feuquay received a $500 award for classroom supplies and professional development for winning the title.
“The first year of a new educator can be extremely challenging and incredibly rewarding,” Teachers CEO Heath Morrison said in a statement tomorrow. “We respect the dedication and determination that educators enrolled in the program. Jennifer Houchey is transforming life in the classroom with her unwavering commitment to Texas students and education profession.”
Because of this award, Feuquay has also progressed as a National Teacher of the Year finalist along with all other state recipients. The winners of that award will be decided by the popular vote and will receive the $5,000 award.
Voting will end on April 18th. Anyone who wants to vote in a contest can do so here.
