Tyler, Texas – The annual East Texas Giving Day is soon.
The 18-hour online gift challenge begins on Tuesday, April 29th, as donations can be made to more than 360 East Texas nonprofits. Last year, the annual gift date exceeded $3.55 million.
Among those seeking help this year is the Women’s Center in East Texas. Nell Spencer, director of outreach and education at the East Texas Women’s Center, said he hopes that community contributions can fund a variety of resources for women and children leaving an abusive situation.
“So, this East Texas gift date is so important that the community comes together. We hope that the community can commit to paying for one service to our clients because we can’t do that without the community and survivors can’t do that without the community’s help and support,” Spencer said.
East Texas Giving Day is overseen by the East Texas Community Foundation. The East Texas Community Foundation is on a mission to provide a simple way for donors to achieve their long-term philanthropy goals by working with people, families, businesses, financial advisors and nonprofits.
The foundation has service areas in 32 counties.
