Chairman Texas Doge: “I got so many tips, so many ideas. This effectively became a whistleblower of 1-800.”
SOUTH LEAK, Texas – Republicans have dominated every aspect of Texas politics for nearly 25 years.
But even the GOP admits that their government may have grown too big.
“I think there are places where there are opportunities on the right size for agencies,” state Legislature Giovanni Capriglione told us within Texas politics.
State Representative of R-Southlake Giovanni Capriglione is chair of the new delivery committee of the Government Efficiency (DOGE) Committee at Texas House. The committee is co-chaired by Salman Bojani, a native of Northern Texas, from D. Eurless.
Senator Capriglione said the goal is to find inefficiencies and excessive restrictions in the state government.
“The reality is, whether it’s Texas or the federal government, there’s always an opportunity to improve the work the government has done. Government gets bigger,” the Republican said. “And sometimes it’s the time and opportunity for us to see what happened and see the opportunity to make things more efficient, cheaper, faster and better.”
Lawmakers say they are looking for fraud and waste, such as those who should not receive unemployment benefits.
And although the committee has only been in a few weeks, Capriglione said there is no shortage of places to start a search.
“I got so many hints, so many ideas, which effectively became a whistleblower of 1-800,” the chairman relayed. “Unfortunately, there are people who use government services, so we want to make sure those who are supposed to access them have access to those services.”
Capriglione has provided a license for digital drivers, another example of increased efficiency.
Republicans said they’ll soon introduce a bill to do just that. For example, if you want new photos, you simply use your mobile phone instead of driving to a busy DPS office.
But what’s tricky about being more efficient is that employment costs are often expensive, especially when using fast technologies such as AI.
“I know, and you know, if you can use technology, okay, you can go, frankly, effort being made by individuals And we know that we can replace the work. We will augment it. Capriglione told us.
The Doge Committee has 13 members, eight Republicans and five Democrats. No committee meetings are scheduled yet.
