On Tuesday, 15 local athletes were named to the Texas Sports Writers Association Class 3A All-State Football Team.
Among them were five from Holiday, three from Jacksboro, Cityview and Vernon, and one from Iowa Park.

The only first team selection was Jacksboro’s senior Cannon Valentzera, who made the team as a defensive back. On safety play, Valenzuela scored 151 tackles. This includes losses, three intercepts, and a split of 10 passes. The Colorado signatories led the area receiving with 88 catches for 1,437 yards and 22 TDs.

Holiday’s Senior Steel Skinner was the only second-team choice and earned the honor as a utility player. Skinner began the game with running backs, receivers and linebackers. He was defending 102 tackles with 1,278 yards and 15 TDs on the offense.
Holiday also had a selection of two three-teams, including senior quarterback Hunter Jones and senior linebacker Parker Jones.

Hunter Jones tied the Wichita Falls Area singles season record with 54 touchdown passes. He completed 225 of 352 passes for 3,938 yards, earning eight more TDs on the ground.
Parker Jones missed three games but was still among the leaders of the region with 128 tackles.
Handsboro notched 75 tackles in the 85th, including one intercept, six pass breakups, two fumble recovery and a defensive TD.
Ten local players are Vernon junior guard Christian Gallegos, Iowa Park junior tackle Andrew McClain, Vernon junior center Kagan Ballard, Jacks Boro senior center Wade Treadway, Holiday senior receiver Ashtin Berry, City senior receiver Desmond Whiteside, City View View View 2 Sophomee Senior Senior Senior Senior Ham Van Vomaman Weimamamandidive Lineman Marcus Olivares and Vernon freshman linebacker Tees Payne.
