Mek’s post is centered around Epic City, an eastern development in Dallas, managed by Epic Community Capital Partner and is a non-profit organization founded by East Plano Islamic Center, a mosque and community centre near Plano. Another development, a spectacular ranch, is planned nearby.
Other claims accusing Epic City of “Sharia City” have also appeared in X and Facebook (Archives) (Archives) (Archives). One of Mek’s posts was also shared by the Governor of Texas.
According to the Council of Foreign Relations, a US foreign policy think tank, Sharia “God’s counsel that Muslims follow to lead moral lives and grow closer to God.” The interpretation of Sharia, a principle derived from the Quran and Hadiths – proverbs attributed to the prophet Muhammad – forms the basis of Islamic law.
Therefore, according to the CFR, “Most Muslims around the world follow the Sharia aspect of their private religious practices,” and more so than if they were not, Muslims living in grand cities will follow the Sharia aspect when practicing their religion.
but, Yasir Qadhi, the project spokesman; I said Dallas Morning News is the news that the epic city will only enforce Texas and federal laws.
We contacted Kadi, the Magnificent City, and the Epic Ranch to ask how Sharia would be incorporated into their community and waited for a reply.
The epic project is in the early stages of development at the time of this writing and is being sold to future buyers.
Development open to all buyers that align with community goals
The developers of Epic City and Ranches have clearly promoted their connection to the project with the East Plano Islamic Centre. According to the Epic City website, the project is managed by the Epic Community Capital Partner. This is a non-profit organization set up by the EPIC to manage development.
According to investor documents on the Epic City website, the planned city consists of nearly 1,100 single family lots, private schools, commercial spaces and a mosque. According to the documents, the CCP will donate the land to the epic for the construction of the mosque and school. The school is run by an epic or “affiliate”.
Announced in February 2025, the magnificent ranch added 130 additional lots within a short distance from the magnificent city.
The face of the grand city project, Yasir Qadhi is also a Resident Scholar In an epic.
The Epic City and Ranches websites did not mention Shariah, but the Epic City website promoted the development as “a safe, dedicated community to meet the growing needs of the Muslim community.”

According to Dallas Morning Newsa February update to the project featuring Qadhi, described the development as a “Muslim neighbourhood” and a “well-integrated community of thousands of Muslim role models.”
The video update cited was not found on Epic City’s website or social media channels at the time of this writing.
However, the CCP also informed the news that it would comply with the Fair Housing Act. This means not enforce a group of people to “no blankets” and then individually evaluate buyers to be appropriate for developer purchases.
According to the news, CCP changed the text on its website to make it clear that the epic project could be home to its grand project.People of all backgrounds, faiths and cultures are “aligned with safety and security goals.”
The claim of “Sharia City” was amplified by Texas politicians
Mek’s post has been viewed millions of times on X and has repeatedly (archived) (archived) an epic development with Sharia.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott spread Mech’s claim even further. On February 24th, Abbott was reposted (archive)) One of Mek’s posts about Epic City, write:
To be clear, Sharia laws are not permitted in Texas.
The same is not true of the Sharia city either.
There is also no “no zone” that this project appears to be implied.
Conclusion. The projects proposed in the video are not permitted in Texas.
We contacted Abbott’s office and asked what laws the governor’s statement was based on and whether his office would investigate or take action against the grand development, and were waiting for a reply.
On February 27th, Texas Rep. Jeff Leach letter (archive)) “The report shows that this large-scale real estate development aims to incorporate elements of Sharia law into its activities and may raise serious legal and constitutional concerns.” We contacted Leach to ask for the report he was referring to. I also asked him and Paxton. Are development research planned or continuous? If we receive a response, we will update this report.
Snopes reported in December 2024 on a bill that allegedly made Sharia illegal in Texas. He reported on allegations that Sharia has been imposed in Texas since 2015.
