TITUS County, Texas – Titus Regional Medical Center confirmed that one of its former cardiologists has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting multiple colleagues.
Dr. Aman Patel, 43, of Keller, Texas, was first arrested by Keller police on March 3rd this year when detectives from Easton, Maryland contacted the agency about investigating Patel’s sexual assault. A week later (March 10th), Patel was handed over and eventually took him to the Talbot County Jail in Maryland.
He is charged with the following crime:
1 count of rape 1st degree rape 2nd degree count of 4th degree sexual contact 2nd degree count
In June 2024, the woman told Easton police that Patel sexually assaulted her “multiple times” while working at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton. She said Patel is a travel cardiologist. According to the Easton Police Department, in spring 2024, the woman said Patel kissed her without her consent, escalating to inappropriate emotion.
The second woman who worked at the same hospital reported a similar incident with Patel, saying she inappropriately sexually assaulted her. The third victim said Patel also touched her, police said.
During a hearing with the Maryland Medical Board, Patel said he had sexual contact with other female staff members who had not reported the incident to law enforcement. He also issued some inconsistent statements during the administrative investigation.
According to the Texas Medical Board, Patel’s Maryland medical license was suspended in October 2024, and his Texas license was suspended shortly thereafter.
“Investigators believe there are additional victims or witnesses who will not come forward. The Easton Police Department is asking them to move forward and help with this investigation,” the Easton Police Department said.
Below is a statement from TRMC.
The TRMC administration is aware of the arrest of a cardiologist for a short-term period of time on hospital medical staff. An article published March 11 by the Maryland ABC News Bureau said Dr. Amanpatel was arrested after allegations of sexual assault involving multiple victims at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton, Maryland.
Dr. Patel worked temporarily with the TRMC from November 2023 to June 2024, but no staff members anymore. Although the Management is not aware of reports of misconduct filed during its tenure, when it learned of these serious allegations, the Management began conducting interviews with staff who worked in person with Dr. Patel.
Patricia Beckman CEO said, “Titus Regional maintains a strong commitment to the safety of everyone who trusts us in care and those who provide care throughout the health system. We encourage teams, patients, or families to move forward if they experience interactions with Dr. Patel in which they are involved.”
TRMC will fully cooperate with the authorities that they should be in touch.
